The Joy, Benefits and Gift of a GRIT mindset.
The secret to success and outstanding achievement in life isn’t about being a “genius”. It’s about your GRIT or the unique combination of your passion, purpose, and long-term perseverance. According to Dr. Angela Duckworth, the world’s leading expert on grit, GRIT is having PASSION + SUSTAINED PERSEVERANCE when it comes to achieving long-term goals.
5 Characteristics of Grit
Without grit, one’s true potential may never be met and one’s dream may never be fulfilled. A 2013 article in Forbes presented 5 Characteristics of Grit, Courage, Conscientiousness, Endurance, Resilience, and Pursuit of Excellence. And although a key component of grit is resilience,
“Resilience is the powering mechanism that draws your head up, moves you forward, and helps you persevere despite whatever obstacles you face along the way. In other words, gritty people believe, “everything will be alright in the end, and if it is not alright, it is not the end.” (Margaret Perlis)
