The True Measure of Goal Success

I’m happy to say I achieved most of my goals this year. But I also failed at a few too. All because I failed to create a clear plan of action. And because my actions weren’t planned, systemized, routinized or even verbalized, my goals didn’t materialize.

Leading your life strong with a God-inspired vision.

One of the things I learned late in life is that a life lived without vision leads to a life without direction, passion, purpose or significance.

I recently learned that some seeds are fire-activated.🔥

They are not like every other seed. They carry within them a particular design, a capacity to remain dormant until they encounter the intense heat of fire. What looks like destruction becomes, for that particular seed, an awakening. The heat melts what has sealed it shut, breaks its dormancy, and creates the conditions for new growth.

Grief can be like that.

Grief is a kind of fire. It burns through the life we knew, changes the landscape, and leaves behind things we never expected to lose. But maybe there are parts of us, seeds of compassion, courage, wisdom, empathy, creativity, faith, and purpose, that couldn’t have activated in the same way without passing through the fire.

Not every seed responds to fire.
And not every person responds to grief in the same way.

But maybe God has placed certain seeds within us that are fire-activated. Parts of our calling and character that remain dormant until life takes us through something we would never have chosen.
But somehow, in the ashes, something that was already within us can awaken.

The tragedy may have changed the landscape,
but it does not have to have the final word about what grows there.

Maybe grief doesn’t just ask, “What have I lost?”
Maybe, in time, it also asks, “What has been awakened in me?”

And maybe that is part of what it means to steward sorrow…
to allow God to take what has been burned and cultivate from it something that can bring life, comfort, beauty, hope and healing to someone else. He does give beauty for ashes after all.

Happy National Daughter’s Day
to my one and only daughter in Heaven. 🤍💛
My sweet Janae. @colouremedy

Your life was, continues to be, and always will be a gift to me.

As much as I ache that I cannot hold you here,
I am infinitely grateful that I got to be your mom
and that God entrusted your beautiful life to us for 27 precious years.

The only thing that could have been worse than losing you would have been to never have had you at all.
And so, even through the ache of missing you,
I choose gratitude.

You were a gift from God, and into His loving arms you have returned. I know that this separation is not the end of our story. It is only a pause, a season before restoration.

So today, I celebrate your life, your love, your light, and the gift of being your mom.

And I am especially grateful for the promise that one day, we will have eternity to share in life together again. No more goodbyes. No more grief. Just restoration, reunion, and everlasting love.

Until then, I’ll keep loving you, remembering you, and carrying the gift of your life and love with me.

Happy Daughter’s Day, my sweet Janae.
To be continued… 🤍✨
