Breaking Free: How to Rewrite the Self-Stories That Keep You Stuck

Are You Trapped in a destructive cycle of Fear, Doubt, or Discouragement?

Do you find yourself stuck in sadness, rejection, anxiety, or uncertainty? Do you act in certain ways just to feel seen, desired, accepted, loved, or worthy—only to feel even more empty?

You’re not alone. Many of us live in destructive habit loops shaped by the self-stories we tell ourselves. And these stories rob us of the abundant, purpose-filled life God has planned for us.

But here’s the truth that will unlock your freedom:
You have the power to rewrite your story.

To break free, you must:
1️⃣ Recognize the false story keeping you stuck.
2️⃣ Refute it (take it captive) and declare Biblical truths.
3️⃣ Rewrite your self-story based on God’s Word—replace your stories with God’s truth about your worth, your purpose, and His unchanging love for you.

➡️If your self-stories contradict God’s promises, it’s time to step into the story He’s written for your life—a story of hope, peace, purpose, and abundance.

💡 Reflection Question: What false story have you been living, and how does God’s Word challenge it?

When I heard these words, I remember saying in my heart:

“I don’t want to arrive at the end of my life believing I have yet to fulfill my God-given purpose. I want to be able to say with confidence that I have fulfilled it.”

abundance

What’s the secret to living in abundance? It’s probably not what you think.

Toxic Fishbowls

Fish living in a goldfish bowl are not living their best life. Because most fish bowls lack a filtration system to keep their environment clean and free of toxins, very few goldfish survive for more than a few weeks. A bowl simply can’t provide a suitable living environment for any fish to live a healthy and long life. Likewise, an unfiltered or poorly filtered mind does not lead to living life more abundantly. When our thoughts go unchecked and unfiltered, we develop toxic mindsets that cause us to lead unhealthy, unproductive, and unhappy lives. But a new way of thinking will always precede a new way of living.

past failures

How do you respond to Failure? This is how I respond when he speaks.

He’s always there. Lurking in the shadows. Glaring. Staring. Blaming and blaring.

So I asked:

Who are you? What do you want from me?  Why do you constantly pursue and accuse me?
Why won’t you leave me alone? Why do you torment me?  Stop obscuring my sight!
Can’t you see I’m tryna move forward, and make moves with my life?
I demand to know who you are! I demand to know what you want!!
Show me your face now! So we can get on with this fight!
