Are your relationships winning?
I’m so happy to share part two of our relationship series on how to have winning relationships. Last week I shared about ’emotional bids’, the fundamental unit of how we seek out connection with others. (If you haven’t read Part One of the series you can check it out here.)
To refresh your memory, we talked about verbal bids (questions, invitations) and nonverbal bids for connection (hugs, gestures and facial expressions, smiles etc.) In this post, I’d like to talk a little bit about how we respond to bids for connection. Because how we respond to others can serve to either help our relationships, or hurt them. Check out these three responses to bids.
So, it’s the month of February and many people have nothing but LOVE or relationships on their minds. But truth be told, forming AND maintaining healthy, thriving and emotionally meaningful relationships with others is not all roses. 🌹🥀 It requires strong social-emotional skills AND an unwavering commitment.
Your Divine Greatness
If you didn’t already know, you were divinely designed in the image of God. You have been divinely equipped with unique gifts, talents, strengths, and abilities to demonstrate God’s love and goodness in the world through good works of service. This makes you FULL of divine GREATNESS!!
Have you ever wondered about the meaning and purpose of your life? So how can you go and discover your purpose? Let me use a song to illustrate this common pursuit for most people. Are you familiar with that popular 1990 song by singer Michael W. Smith “Place In This World?” I was in high school when this song was released and it struck a chord in my heart that continues to ring loud and clear. If you’re not familiar with some of the lyrics, here a few lines:
Do you find yourself unmotivated and unexcited to get out of bed each morning to go to work?
Are you spending a lot of time wishing you were engaged in work that not only energized your mind but most importantly, engaged your heart? For years I was engaged in work that I dreaded. Work that caused me to be physically drained, mentally discouraged and emotionally overwhelmed. Every. Single. Day. I had zero energy left to give my family at the end of my workday.
As I look back over my 40 plus years of life, I’ve realized how much I just drifted through life with no real understanding of my God-given purpose. I simply couldn’t figure out my place in this world. And because I didn’t know WHY I existed, my life felt meaningless, directionless and useless.
For the past few years, I have kicked off the new year by deciding on one word (or theme) to focus my thoughts and efforts on throughout the year. But this year, I decided to start my year off by beginning a vision of the end of my year in mind.
Before I created any new goals, I wanted to have a clear picture in mind of who I wanted to become, where I wanted to go, and what I wanted to accomplish by the end of 2019. Once I had a clear vision of what I wanted to see happen in my life, I knew my goals and actions would follow.
Welcome to my site! I am so happy you are here! This spot was created to encourage, resource and most importantly, connect with YOU!
